Kuruluş Osman, the son of Ertugrul, was known to all as “Kara Uthman,” meaning “Black Uthman.” He was portrayed as a brave soul by Kara Uthman. His favorite pastime was riding horses and shooting arrows. Another favorite game of his was Mongolian wrestling. He was galloping at an incredible speed. With strong legs, he was climbing onto the back of the horse, a handsome young man. In his hand was a curved bow. Controlling the horse’s path with the reins, he had his eyes fixed on the distance. He saw a terrible pain in a distant tree. He wanted to reach that pain. But it was not reachable from the tree. Would it be possible for Osman to reach the pain with an arrow in his hand while the horse was galloping towards the tree? Osman decided to divert the horse towards the opposite direction instead of straight towards the tree.

By diverting straight towards the tree, even the children could guess the target. What courage was left in that? Applying pressure to the horse’s belly, Osman increased the speed of the horse. When the horse almost reached the void, he shot the arrow. The pain separated nicely and fell below. Osman went down to the tree and picked up the pain. He began to eat it with certainty. His curly black hair fluttered in the Anatolian breeze. The Mongol Khan’s soldiers had breached the walls of Baghdad and invaded the city. In that year’s winter, in a small town called Sogut in northwest Anatolia, a child was born in Ertugrul’s house. His name was chosen as Osman, which means “a gift of breaking bones.”

Feeling defeated after the failed attack on Kulujahisar, Osman fell asleep in a distressed state of mind. He saw in a dream—a moon rose from Sheikh Edeb Ali’s chest and came and settled in his chest. Then a huge oak tree rose from his navel. The tree grew taller and taller over time, surpassing four mountain ranges. Balkans, Alburz, Kekesas, and Atlas. From the hundreds of branches of the tree emerged four rivers that flowed into books. Danube, Euphrates, Tigris, and Nile. But suddenly the leaves of the tree turned into swords. Then the wind started blowing in the books. Each leaf turned into a dervish and flew towards Constantinople in the spring breeze. The cities on two continents, the winds of spring towards Constantinople. With each wind, a leaf turned into a dervish and flew towards Constantinople. Two continents and two cities by the sea. Then Constantinople became a center of confusion. Osman, as soon as he was about to take the reigns in his hand, woke up from his sleep.

Osman can be seen with Bangla subtitles every Wednesday on the online website. Osman’s love, battles, stories of state establishment, and struggles against enemies and traitors are depicted in this series. Burak Ozcivit portrays the character of Osman, and his wife, Bala Hatun, is played by Ozge Torer. In addition, Tamer Yiğit, Kayı Bey, and Artuk Bey play vital roles in the series.

Osman Gazi or the First Osman—son of the principal of the Turkmen tribes in the border region of Anatolia, who, after the Seljuks were defeated by the Mongols in the battle of Koç Dağ, saw the powerful Seljuk Empire of Anatolia transformed into a Mongol vassal kingdom. Osman Gazi was a loyal Turkmen bey of this kingdom. Like other Turkmen beys, he also paid tribute to his beylik in exchange for his own beylik’s independence.

Staying on the sidelines, the Seljuks, under Mongol rule, began to lose power. As a result, people’s trust in the Seljuks also dwindled. Leadership qualities, abilities—all were present in Osman. So, the settlements around the Kayi tribe were quickly influenced and embraced Osman’s leadership. Osman’s reputation spread everywhere. The Seljuks, tired of the Mongols’ influence, slowly turned towards the border areas of Anatolia.

History tells us that Osman Bey was brave, visionary, and a rightful heir to leadership. He knew well that sword fights alone were not enough to establish a state. Education and knowledge were indispensable in nation-building. Therefore, he invited knowledgeable people to his area. He gave them time. He set up various religious education centers. Thus, using the power of the sword and knowledge, he established an independent state where contributions from warriors to scholars of all classes were invaluable. The sheikhs were appointed to a special responsibility. Their job was to spread the light of Islam in the conquered lands. Thus, through long struggles and countless brave sacrifices, Kaya Bey of Kayı Bey established a significant role in the establishment of an independent state.

Kuruluş Osman is a captivating series that narrates the tale of courage, struggle, and the establishment of a nation. Burak Özçivit portrays the character of Osman Bey with depth and conviction, while Özge Törer embodies the role of Bala Hatun with grace. With its blend of love, warfare, and political intrigue, the series continues to enthrall audiences worldwide.
